Fr. Ron Brassard Memorial Scholarship

Amount: 4-year scholarship, $5,000/year ($20,000 over student’s Chesterton enrollment)

Eligibility: 8th grade students graduating from Immaculate Conception Catholic School

This scholarship is established by an anonymous donor in remembrance of Father Ron Brassard (1947-2021) and to support students graduating from Immaculate Conception Catholic Regional School in Cranston, RI. 

Fr. Ron Brassard was born in Attleboro, MA, was a graduate of Catholic University of America, and attended Our Lady of Providence Seminary in Providence, RI.

In 1994, Fr. Brassard was appointed to serve as pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish. Then, in 2009, he led the effort to found Immaculate Conception Regional School, a place of learning and faith, the latter of which he said is "the very thread that weaves all learning together in and through the presence and actions of God in our world today.”

Father Brassard also served as assistant pastor at St. Thomas Parish, Providence; chaplain for the diocesan Apostolate for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired (1974-75); Director for the diocesan Office of Worship and Liturgy (1975-83); Assistant Chancellor of the Diocese of Providence (1980-83); Director of Liturgy at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville, IL (1983-88); Administrator pro-tem at St. Andrew Parish, Block Island (1988); and assistant pastor at Immaculate Conception Parish, Cranston (1988-94). In addition to his other responsibilities, Father served as diocesan Dean (Vicar Forane) of Deanery VI (2013-15).


Eligibility Requirements:
 

  • Be currently enrolled in Immaculate Conception Regional Catholic School in Cranston, RI. or a parishioner in good standing at Immaculate Conception parish.

  • Be accepted to the Chesterton Academy of Our Lady of Hope

  • Need financial assistance: Please fill in the financial aid form (FACTS portal)

  • Be recommended by the chaplain and/or principal of Immaculate Conception Regional School.
